Crowdsourcing is a method people are starting to become familiar with. It is an efficient and sustainable way to produce goods especially for the fashion industry. Not only is this technique useful for designers, but journalists are also using this technique to gather ideas about news stories and connect with sources that actually have an interest in the topic by sending a twitter question in hoping to receive informational and oppinionated responses.
The fashion industry use crowdsourcing to determine whether consumers will even buy their garments. This tool decreases unnecessary manufacturing, making sure designers only make what the customers want. Websites such as Kickstarter and Ideacious gives consumers the chance to back up and support the products they want, and if there is sufficient 'backers' then the product will continue into production and manufacturing - knowing people are interested in this product and will buy.
Crowd sourcing is an engaging way to communicate with the public and knowing what they want and what is really in the public's interest. Journalists should realise how useful this technique is.
