lost in the world

being able to do something for yourself AND achieving a goal is - as cliche as it sounds - indescribable. &which I did last Winter; studying abroad in the States. 'twas the best months of my life. a getaway. escape. new beginning. life changing. memorable. exhilarating. growth. &just plain fun. I would do it all over again. my recommendation? si. oui. ja. hai. na'am. tak. aye. oes. YES.

Why? The list shall go on&on&on&on&on..but,
** Travelling is just an eye-opener. I've always wanted to travel the world. I 'spose everyone does and when you get the chance do it. saving the $$ is worth it. being thrifty before planning and splurging on an amazing trip is worth every second you are there.
* I met people who I hope to always keep in touch with +plus, when you meet other foreign people you have someone you know when you visit their country next time. free accommodation &tour guide!!
** Becoming a local. living elsewhere is different to actually traveling to a place. I hunted down LA - but there were just too many things to do.
* Personal growth. I actually learnt to take care of myself. it was the first time I lived out of home. scared? teeny bit. excited? heck yes. nervous? way too nervous. but I got over it. I learnt to cook and clean up my own mess (at my own pace).

Favourite places of visitation?
Downtown Los Angeles; not many people enjoy downtown L.A. in particular. What people usually picture of L.A. is Hollywood, beaches, palm trees and the wheel at Santa Monica. But what I crave for was the dirtiness, the street art, the cracked roads, the architecture. It was just never enough. Finding L.A.'s little memorabilia was a plus; unknown local hang outs, underground dub-step clubs, secret menus at restaurants.
** Disneyland; I lived a 20-minute drive away from the happiest land on Earth. Okay, so there were two places that had lived up to my expectations in the U.S. and Disneyland was one of them. I had never been there as a child and now I loved every second of it. I actually bought an annual pass during my stay - how could you not? if you lived several minutes from the happiest place on Earth?! I would venture there after a day of classes or on hangover-Sunday. I truly was happier everytime I walked out of Disneyland...
* NewYork; sounds cliche? yea.. but. It's New York! Los Angeles turned out anything than I expected... Las Vegas, was a bit of a downer. But New York lived to its expectation! It was what I had ever imagined. My best friend and I would talk about venturing off to NY one day.. and it actually happened - which was the greatest! I can not really explain NY.. it may sound lame, but I can only describe it AMAZING! Taking my first step into Times Square.. overlooking the city lights on top of the Rockefeller Center.. being cramped and looked at weirdly in the subway.. getting lost in the East Village - It was everything I expected and more!

My next move? to graduate. Hell yeah! - hopefully this year.
Get a job. Where? Let's aim big &say the big apple. Dreaming big is for the cool kids. It doesn't hurt too. You got nothing to lose. Makes you strive for more. Why settle for second best, huh?
