digitally savvy OJ1*

During my study abroad I decided to get to know Los Angeles a little bit more intimate. So me and a friend set out at 8am and ventured around L.A. for well over 12 hours.
It was one of the best days I had over there. It made myself fall in love with the city even more - walking through downtown.. and soaking up the dirtiness and culture. Of course we had a car, so technically only walked from the parking spot to the destination (but still.. people look at you weird for walking..).
Here is a map I've created with Google Maps to show where we went & I definitely recommend the places. I guess you can call it a tour guide, but more of a tour guide when you're not sure what else to do instead of the mainstream tourist places. In fact, my friend is from Orange County, but never went to the places we visited that day. It was an experience for him as well.

HAPPY L.A. EXPLORING
& I do hope I've inspired you to go to these places.

studied the wrong course? OJ1*

As a uni student, one of the first few things you tend to ask when meeting someone (in class) is "what's your major?", "what are you hoping to do with it?", so I met a new classmate in one of my fashion classes and we got talking. She mentioned her dad works as one of the senior journalists for the Courier Mail, and of course as I am studying journalism I start asking questions and we started chatting about the recent job cuts (Yes, it's depressing!). She told me the first few people that had to be let go were the online journalists...But.. wait! Isn't online journalism on the rise and print is slowly descending? I was confused. She was confused. She also mentioned they were still keeping the older and senior journalist (who may be less experienced with online techniques). It is quite bizarre.

Later on the week in OJ1 lecture, we had guest speaker John Grey (who used to be the online editor at the Courier Mail). He did a great explanation about the journalism industry and what jobs are remaining, and that there is still hope! (YAY!!). Basically, the industry needs to save money and cut down on wages. Newspapers are still charging plenty of $$$ for page advertisements while online advertisements are still very low. John also mentioned centralisation! This link will do a much better explanation then if I tried..

What I took out of the lecture is:
1. you have to be the best in what you want to do!
2. digital is the future for news media
3. there is still hope
4. have a back-up plan! double degree students you did the wise thing of studying for the extra 1-3 years!

Hello fellow readers

I know there has been some slack blogging lately, but the next few post will be on blogging exercises for one of my classes - online journalism 1. There should be some interesting posts, no guarantee but we'll see.

MSGM

hello fabulous. Italian designer Massimo Giorgetti is my recently new-found love.
I'm a jacket-obsessed freak. &in Australia.. jackets, coats, knitwear.. and things like that has a 3 months MAX use-date. Yes, packing up my bags and moving somewhere a bit colder is in my future agenda. Although, Brisbane's weather this year has scaled down lower. WHICH IS AWESOME.
anyway, if you have not already googled MSGM, click here now.
How tres chic? love his cut, print, pattern, detail, colour, texture. Every single garment is fully amazing. He does the best print to texture clash. It's phenomenal. I'm just waiting for the prices to drop lower than Brisbane's temperature right now.
Here are a few favs from Pre-Fall 2012 and Fall Winter 2012:

P.S. Did I mention he does MENSWEAR, men in florals and prints.. why the f not?!

I discovered Massimo Giorgetti during my trawling for boucle jackets. One other thing I am madly in love with. It's such a European look ..and I'm-going-on-a-lunch-date-with-the-girls type of jacket. Pretty much shouts I'm-SO-freakin-stylish. This is my first step to getting closer to a Chanel tweed jacket.
it was love at first sight. legit.
Short Dog Tooth jacket

Please let me know if MSGM ever goes on sale at a ridiculously reasonable price for me.

Dion Kruger

I mean Diane Kruger in Dior.
Now if by just that first line you know what I am referring to, HOW AMAZING was it?

Photo courtesy of Red Carpet Fashion Award (RCFA)
We all saw this stunner of a piece at Paris Fashion week earlier this year ...and next thing you know it, here comes Princess Kruger at the Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony. ABSOLUTE dress crush!

I swear Diane is the perfect Dior girl - always knows how to pull off a Dior (not that she ever really looks terrible at any time..). She has the elegance to pull the Dior look. Here are some of my favourites, report me to the website for pornography if we're not on the same page..

She should be the "New Look" v. 2.01
